All of our yarns and fiber are hand dyed either in a kettle or painted with individual dye colors by hand. Each color way we create is dyed individually or in a very small batch each day. Yarns that are ordered on separate days will carry the same dye colors but will not exactly match a previous batch. If you're planning a project that calls for more than one skein of yarn we strongly urge you to order all your yarn on the same day.
You may also see flecks of color in your yarn. This is not a flaw, it's a hallmark of a hand dyed yarn and it happens as dyes sometimes break away in the dye kettle or dye powder settles a bit unevenly on your yarn. That's really the beauty of hand dyed yarn, it's always unique.
We love the fact that our yarn and fiber is unique and every item that we dye gets special attention. We don't mass produce and we never will. We're Indie hand dyers and we hope that you love the fact that each yarn from the beginning concept of it's design and color, through the dyeing process of in the kettle or the painting table, through to being hung to dry was completely done by hand.
We specialize in custom colors and inspirational photo replication and we use only professional dyes for our yarns and fiber. We mordant our dyes with either citric acid or soda ash depending on the particular dye we use and we rinse our fiber very well in cool water.
Caring for your yarn is pretty easy. Most of our yarns are superwash. Specialty non superwash fiber is noted as being a non superwash. The superwash base is resistant to felting but we recommend that all of your finished items be washed in cool water with a mild detergent with little to no agitation and air drying.
